The big gasser was completely out of control for several days and tore up a wide crater.

The gas was at that time noticed as being different from that of gas field, the Stovall gas naauseating the workmen around the well, something which does not occur in the gas field territory. The Stovall gasser served to bring about considerable lease play in that section, which is only a short distance from the location 0f the Urania Petroleum first The news of the bringing in of Ike first real producer in the La Salle parish wildcat region traveled rapidly and last night was one of much excitement in the oil fraternity of Arkansas and North Louisiana. Barely was the word flashed abroad than auto loads of oil scouts who are wont to make the various promising new fields headed toward Monroe on their way to LaSalle parish and Urania. Monroe hotel keepers and cafe men reported that last night was like an old time for this city. Paces familiar to the oil world were seen here.

Shortly after this lease trading, the Urania company manager, Anthony Gibbon, went to England to consult with the directors of his company concerning further operations in this Upon his report and recommendations, the directors decided to push ahead with their plans for a thorough test of the field MONROE OFFERS OIL INDUSTR SERVICE As a city, Monroe is the logical headquarters for drilling activity and oil production in the Urania area.

Oil men and operators who may find it necessary to locate permanent headquarters in this section of the state are offered the following facts to hear weight in their selection of a home: Monroe is the headquarters for the largest gas field in the world. At all times the gas field fraternity, so closely allied with the petroleum world, will he found at our hotels, among the must respected members of the community. Headquarters for an expansion which has included drilling of move than 350 gar, wells is located here. These drilling companies are at the service of the oil industry today, wth activity in the gas field now at low ebb. They have the repair equipment and the machinery which are necessary for an extended campaign.

Located in Monroe in the Department of Conservation office which issues drilling permit in the Urania-OUa Territory. Inspections are carried out from the office here and all data concerning previous tests in the Urania area are on file for ready reference. Direct rail lines out of Monroe offer connection cast and west, north and south. central office in connection with the North Louisiana and South Arkansas offices would find Monroe the ideal hub. There is a certainty that wildcat exploration, in hcniere swamp, in Union parish, in Lincoln parish and in other sections around the gas field will he carried on continuously.

They have been for thi past threw a producing they will continue in view of the LaSalle gusher. To locate in Monroe means location at. the center of this activity. Union parish is far closer to Monroe than to any other large city. Oil indications have been found in West Carroll parish.

The Urania area is merely a part of a circle of which Monroe is the huh point. In relation to the other fields, Monroe offers convenience at a saving. It ia between El Dor ado and Urania. It is on excellent highways providing the shortest route from the Northwest Louisiana fields. It it within two hours of Urania.

Remember that all of the exploration that has been conducted in the Urania territory to the present time has been conducted from Monroe as headquarters. Monroe men have directed much of the work. Monroe drillers have carried it out. (Even our baseball team is called the These are some of the reasons why Monroe is fitted to he the center for those who carry on operations in what we hope and believe will be the next hig oil-producing section in Louisiana. At 5:30 p. m. yesterday oil gushed from the eight-inch easing at the top of Urania Petroleum No. 0 well in section 19-10-2 LaSalle parish, one-fourth mile off the main line of the Missouri Pacific, 45 miles south of Monroe.

The gold" came in after a day spent in bailing, with a large crowd gathered around the drilling rig of what was considered the most important test thus far conducted in the LaSalle area. Over the telephone this morning at nine Manager Anthony Gibbon of the Urania Company stated that the No. well came in at a rate of around 2,000 barrels daily of first- class pipe-line oil. There was evidence of considerable gas pressure. The black fluid gushed up out of the eight-inch casing several feet in the air, was brought down to three- inch piping ai, then sanded in, to await arrival of tanks before further on.
