Douglas Hansford Netterville of Newellton and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Moore and Mrs. Charles Hansford Netterville and the late Mr.

Netterville all of Newellton. She attended Louisiana Tech and is a student at Northeast State College. Mr. Ensminger is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Rex Ensminger of Monroe. His grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. T. A.

Grant of West Monroe and the late Mrs. Kate Ensminger of Monroe. The Newellton Union Church will be the scene of wedding which will be solemnized at six-thirty in the evening by Bishop Marvin Franklin and Rev. (Staff photo by John Oldenburg) YWCA Plans Open House Thursday In Celebration Of Silver Anniversary One of the most outstanding social events of the fall season will be the twenty-fifth anniversary of the YWCA which will be celebrated at an open house between seven and ten Thursday night, October 28, at 1515 Jackson street.

Receiving guests at the door will be Mrs. B. L. Mulhem, president of the YWCA board and Miss Bess Sharp, executive secretary. Mrs.

E. P. Cudd is general chairman of the silver anniversary activities. Serving on the refreshment committee are Mrs. E.

B. Ellison, Mrs. A. S. Tidwell and Mrs.

Frank Eason. Music will be in charge of Mrs. Elliott Thompson. Serving on the flower committee are Mrs. Dan Dennett.

Mrs. C. C. Lucky, Mrs. L.

N. Copes, Mrs. J. T. Powell and Mrs.

Hewitt B. Johnson. Mrs. Palmer Hardie of Baton Rouge, first president of the YWCA board, and past presidents. Mrs.

Kight. Active 25 years During the quarter-century history of the YWCA in Monroe, it has played an important and active part in community life. October 1929 plans for the organization were formulated with Miss Jordena Flournoy, a prominent leader in the community, as its Provisional Chairman. The first executive committee was composed of Mrs. Jessie Sadler.

Through the efforts of Mrs. W. L. Ethridge as housing chairman I a building was secured on the corner of DeSiard and South Grand and a cafeteria was started. In January, 1930, twenty one women of this community were elected as the first board of directors.

Wills. I The first residence building of the YWCA was on Telemaque street, but soon these quarters were outgrown and the residence and building headquarters of the YWCA became 201 Washington street. In 1937 the YWCA headquarters were moved to 904 Jackson street. In October 1946. through the efforts and interest of the YWCA board with Mrs.

J. B. Thornhill as building chairman and a group of interested friends and citizens with Mr. Richard Kellogg as chairman, and through the advice and consent of the finance committee of the Community Chest the present building, 1515 Jackson Street was secured and a down payment was made. Miss Netterville has chosen as her maid of honor Miss Rachel Everette of Newellton.

Her bridesmaids will be Miss Ginger Wilkerson, Miss Vivian White. Miss Martha Louise Netterville, Miss Henrietta Mason, all of Newellton, and Miss Martha Denmon of St. Joseph. Serving the bridegroom as best man will be William Poe of Newellton. Ushers and groomsmen will be Rex Ensminger, Jack Neal, Alva Lynch, Charles Netter( ville and Larry LaPlue.

i Both will continue their studies at Northeast State College and reside in Monroe following their wedding trip. Tulane Alumni To Meet At Country Club There will be a dinner for Tulane Alumni, parents of students of Tulane and Newcomb colleges and parents of prospective students on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Country Club. Miss Beatrice I Fields, secretary of Tulane Alumni and members of the Tulane faculty will be present to discuss plans for I the Tulane Conference to be held in Monroe next spring.
