8-A Thursday, July 1, 1971 Monroe News-Star Area Servicemen Many area servicemen are being assigned to new poets, earning honors or completing training in the various phases of military life. This column lists those making the hometown news releases in the different branches of the service. Oscar L. Watts S. Sgt.

Oscar L. Watts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ocar Watts of Monroe has been decorated with the U. S.

Air Force Commendation Medal at Kev West Naval Air Station, Fla. Sgt. Watts distinguished himself by outstanding achievement as an electrical power production technician in the restoration of the Key West power production plant. His wife, Arlene, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Joseph Scwahn of Cody, Wyo. Gregory D. Hearne Marine Sgt. Gregory Hearne, son of Mr. and s.

Henry D. Hearne of West Monroe is serving at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, N.C. Roger C. Taylor Marine Lance Cpl. Roger C.

Taylor, son of Mrs. Freddie Hewitt of West Monroe was promoted to his present rank while serving at Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. James Ainsworth Marine Pfc. James M. Ainsworth, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Andrew Swillie of West Monroe, was graduated from Aviation1 Administration Course, Class Naval Air Technical Training Center, Naval Air Station, Memphis, Millington, Tenn. Robert E. Taylor Airman Robert E. Taylor, son of Mrs.

Velma Taylor of Monroe, has received his first U. S. Air Force duty assignment after completing basic training at Lackland AFB, Tex. The airman has been assigned to a unit of the Strategic Air Command at Francis E. Warren AFB, for training and duty in the civil engineering structural and pavements field.

His wife is the former Annie L. Ellison of Saginaw, Mich. Clarence White Airman Clarence White, son of Mrs. Shirley White of Monroe has received his first Air Force duty assignment after completing basic training at Lackland AFB, Tex. The airman has been assigned to a unit of the Aerospace Defense Command at Hancock Field, N.Y., for training and duty as a security policeman Bobby D.

Roden Marine Lance Cpl. Bobby D. Roden, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.

Roden of Hodge, has reported for duty at Marine Corp6 Supply Center, Barstow, Calif. Robert D. Jeffery Air Force T. Sgt. Robert D.

Jeffery, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Jeffery of Calico Rock, has arrived for duty a Little Rock AFB, Ark.

Sgt. Jeffery, a personal technician, is in a unit of the Tacticad Air Command which provides combat units for air support of U. S. ground forces. The wife, Frances, is the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. J. S. Vail of Bastrop. David A.

Gatt Air Force S. Sgt. David A. Gatt, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Russell D. Gatt of Detroit, has arrived for duty at Kwang Ju AB, Republic of Korea. Sgt. Gatt, an air traffic controller, is assigned to a unit of the Air Force Communications Service which provides global communications and air traffic control for the USAF. His wife, Penelope, is the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Raymond Richards of Delhi. Gerald D. Smallings Airman Gerald D. Smaliings, son of James G.

Smallitrgs of Choudrant, has graduated at Shepard AFB, from the technical training course for U. S. Air Force medical administrative specialists. Airman Smailings trained to maintain medical and veterinary records. Travis R.

Duffey Airman Travis Duffey, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Rube B. Thorne of West Monroe has completed basic training at Lackland AFB. Tex.

He been assigned to Chanute AFB, 111., for training as a fabric and rubber products repairman. David H. Fowler Airman David Fowler, son of Mr. and Mns. Julian G.

Fowl er of Natchez, has completed basic training at AFB, Tex He has been assigned to Sheppard APB, for training in metalworking. His wife is the former Patricia Montgomery of Vidalia. Rodney D. Williams Marine Pfc. Rodney Wil hams, son of Mrs Ruth B.

Williams of Monroe was graduated from recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Sain Diego, Calif. Don H. Gray Chief M. Sgt. Don H.

Gray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse J. Gray of DeWitt, is a member of the 437th Military Airlift Wing at Charleston AFB, S.C., which has earned the U. S.

Air Foice Outstanding- Unit Award for the fourth con-! secutive year. Sgt. Gray, an aircraft maintenance superintendent, will wear a distinctive service ribbon marking his affiliation with the Military Airlift Command unit. Sgt. wife, Dorothy, is the daughter of Mrs.

Joe Wilson of Forest. Albert T. Levy Albert T. Levy, son of Mrs. Marie Levy of Donaldsonville, has been promoted to sergeant in the U.

S. Air Force. Sgt. Levy, an administrative clerk at McClellan AFB, serves with a unit of the Aerospace Defense Command which protects the U. S.

against hostile aircraft and missiles. James E. Beal Senior M. Sgt. James E.

Beal, son of Eval A. Beal of Pleasant Drive of Bastrop, has graduated from the U. S. Air Force Senior NowommisMoned Officer Academy at Norton AFB, Calif. Sgt.

Beal received advanced military leadership and management training and is an aircraft maintenance superintendent. The wife, Pauline, is the daughter of Mrs. Ellen Jones of Jones. Willie Jones Airman Willie Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Johnny Jones of Rayville has graduated at Keesler AFB, from the U. Air Force personnel specialist course. The airman, now proficient in preparation of personnel records and reports, is being assigned to Craig AFB, for duty with a unit of the Air Training Command. James M. Risher James M.

Risher, of Bastrop has been promoted to technical sergeant in the U. S. Air Force. Sgt. Risiher, a weather forecaster at Vandenberg AFB, serves with a unit of the Air Weather Service which provides weather information for military flight operations.

His wife, Schoolmasters In London Seeking Men's Liberation LONDON (AP) Thousands of schoolmasters abandoned their classrooms Wednesday for a liberation protest in London. The demonstrators were members of the National Association of Schoolmasters. One of the things they protested was that in pay negotiations, most of Ellen, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.

The teachers, who earn from $45.20 to $79.38 a wsek want more money and a new pay structure. The demonstrators held meetings and some marched to the Manpower Economics Office where government arbitrators were discussing the pay claims. Next door were bankruptcy courts.

courts are said one teacher. teachers are on the edge of Gov. Louie B. Nunn of Kentucky has appointed a five- member council of economic adviser to collect and interpret fiscal data. It is similar to the federal version.
