Mrs. Ginny Olsen of Newnan died in her home Sunday, August 8, 2004 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Newnan First United Methodist Church with a brief interment service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park immediately afterward. Ginny was born November 18, 1939 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was united in holy matrimony to Richard "Dick Olsen on September 1, 1958. They were blessed with three children: Rick Olsen, Vicki Holder and Jeffrey Olsen. Her husband Dick preceded her in glory on September 17, 1998. Her parents, William and Lucille Jeffirs and brother Don Jeffirs, all from Hooks, TX, also preceded her in glory. Ginny was a "light on the hill" to those who were blessed enough to know her.

She was involved in many community and church ministries, especially American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Kairos prison ministries, Kairos Outside, Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis events. She considered it her God-given mission to spread his love to all around her. Her glowing smile and warm personality was offered to everyone she met. She taught the world how to show God's grace even in the midst of a long battle with breast cancer. Ginny is survived by her children, Rick Olsen and wife Dianne from Newnan, GA; daughter Vicki Holder and husband Tommy from Newnan; son: Jeffrey Olsen from West Monroe, LA; seven grandchildren: Alicia Harrison and husband Morgan from Maryville, TN, Christy Gunn O'Briant from West Monroe, LA, Leigh Smith and husband Michael from Ft.

Riley, KS, Ryan Holder from Newnan, Ricky Olsen from Rantoul, IL, Kate Murray from Newnan, and Beth Olsen from Newnan; three great-grandchildren, Lydia Johns, Jayson Johns, and Mackenzie Harrison; her brother: Walter Jeffirs and wife Mary Ann from Hooks, TX; sister: Carol Whiteley and husband James Chillicothe, TX; sister-in-law Pat Wooten and husband Aron from Hooks, TX; and a multitude of family and friends from all over the country.
