Ragus was a lifelong resident of Pioneer where he was a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church. He retired as the Postmaster of Pioneer after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Oak Grove Lodge 284 A. M. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

DORA PARKER LIGHTSEY Mulhearn Funeral Home Winnsboro, LA ORANGE PARK, FL Dora Parker Lightsey, age 67, of Orange Park, FL passed away May 6, 2002 at Community Hospice following a lengthy She was born November 13, 1934 in Winnsboro, LA, the daughter ipf Landis Parker and Chloie Davis Parker.

She was a loving wife, Mother, grandmother, and friend who enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, and cooking. She was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church and the Seminole Club of Clay County. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Elvin G. "Lites" Lightsey, her sons, Elvin George Lightsey, III and his wife Jan of Altus, OK, and Richard Landis Lightsey of Tallahassee, FL; her granddaughter, Baileigh Parker Lightsey of Tallahassee, FL; grandsons, Stephen George and Michael Ross Lightsey of Altus, OK; and her brother, Don Parker and his wife Becky of Winnsboro, LA.

Funeral services in celebration of her life were held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 9, 2002 at St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Orange Park, FL. Mrs. Lightsey will be laid to rest with graveside services at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 11, 2002 at the Crowville Masonic Cemetery with Rev. Charles Davis officiating.

HUEY GENE RAGUS Cox Funeral Home Oak Grove, LA Huey Gene Ragus, 72, of Pioneer, LA, was born on March 21, 1930 and died May 9, 2002 at St. Francis Medical Center, Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther B. Ragus and Mattie Lee Jones Ragus. He is survived by his wife, whom he married August 31, 1947, Ruby Lee Hooper Ragus of Pioneer, LA; sons, Stacy Ivan Ragus and wife Denise of Pioneer, LA, and John Luther Ragus and wife Becky of West Monroe, LA; daughters, Laura Lee Roberts and husband Jim of Newport, NC, and Deborah Jean Davis of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Ragus, Joseph Brown, Mack Albritton, Jeff Stewart, Victor Ragus, and Jerry Hegwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Pioneer Baptist Church. Louisiana. As a partner in Clark Cattle Company, he remained very active in cattle ranching until his death. Mr.

Clark was always a man with a progressive vision. He was the first to import Charolais bulls from France through Canada into the state of Louisiana. He was an early leader in breeding cattle through artificial insemination, particularly the Simmental, Chianina, and Maine Anjou exotic breeds. Mr. Clark's progressive vision was most prevalent in the spiritual realm, where he donated land for a Christian campground for use by churches, and religious groups.

This developed into Christian Life Fellowship, where he served as President of the Board of Directors until his death. As part of this vision, Christian Life Fellowship began King's Camp, a Christian camp for children and young people, where he and the Fellowship made provision that no child be turned away due to lack of ability to pay for camp. He was a former member of Mer Rouge Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the Board of Deacons for many years and was instrumental in the building of their present facilities. Mr. Clark was co-owner of Bacon and Clark John Deere Company and was a charter member of the Board of Directors of Pellets, Inc.

He was also a member of the Mer Rouge Lions Club, former member of the Board of Directors of The Oak Woods Home, former member of the Board of Directors of Mer Rouge State Bank, and former Morehouse Parish School Board member for many years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Granberry Clark; three children, Bob Erie Clark and wife -Betty Earle, Jean Clark Harkleroad and husband Charles, and Molly Clark Hartrick and husband Robin, all of Mer Rouge. His legacy continues to seven grandchildren, Robert Nolan Clark and wife Jennifer, Amy Clark Ellender and husband Danny, Molly Clark Glath and husband Ray, Erie Mayo Clark and wife Miranda, Hundley Mayo Harkleroad, Beth Harkleroad McBee and husband Joel, and Benjamin Thomason and wife Jennifer; and nine great-grandchildren, Cullen and Austin Clark, Erin, Maggie, Daniel, John, and William Clark Ellender, Caroline Glath, and Brennan Clark. He is also survived by his friend and "right hand Jim Spencer. Pallbearers will be Robert Nolan Clark, Erie Mayo Clark, Hundley Mayo Harkleroad, Benjamin Thomason, Danny Ellender, Ray Glath, and Joel husband Justin of Tullos, LA; great granddaughter, Madelynn Paige Skipper of Delhi, LA; two sisters, Donnis Chavers of West Monroe, LA, and Jean Burkett and her husband Jackie of Farmerville, LA; a beloved brother-in-law, Leon Gammill of Rayville, LA; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Greg Roberts, William Freeland, Randy Vaughn, Greg Gibson, Donnie Adcock, and Bill Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ronnie Hubbard, Dr. Arthur Liles, Buddy Ware, and Shorty McHand. Mr.

Hardy was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during World War II. He served on Destroyer Minesweeper Hovey and on Destroyer Bordelon. He was engaged in the invasions of the Palau Islands (Peleliu and Anguar), Leyte Gulf, and Luzon.

He was always proud of the fact that, during the Palau campaign, his ship, Hovey, set and all-time record, having swept fifty mines in one day. It has always been a source of pride for Mr. Hardy's family, knowing that his ship was the first to enter Philippine waters at Leyte Gulf during the Philippine liberation. At Luzon, Mr. Hardy survived when an enemy torpedo struck and sank the Hovey, taking the lives of eighty men.

Jerrel Hardy was a warrior. For eleven years, he battled cancer with the same spirit and determination he used when he fought for this country that he dearly loved. When he sank for the last time, he went under with guns still blazing. During his time on earth, he served his Creator. He was adored by his family and friends, and many people admired him for his beautiful gardens and pecan orchard.

He will be missed for many years to come. JOY LAZELLE SPURLOCK Farrar Funeral Home Farmerville, LA Funeral services for Joy Lazelle Spurlock, 79, of Farmerville will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 13, 2002 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Allen Akin and Bro. David Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.

Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mrs. Spurlock, a homemaker, died Friday, May 10, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Spurlock. Survivors include her nephew, Danny Frasier and wife Peggy of Farmerville; and niece, Carol Gates and husband Thomas, also of Farmerville.

Pallbearers will be Danny Frasier, Thomas Gates, Mike Gates, Steven Frasier, Dale Putman, and Glenn Barron. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. Union Parish from 1931 1945. From 1945 1974 she worked in the Union Parish School Board Office and was Supervisor of the Lunch Program. After retiring in 1974, Miss Gaston was elected to Union Parish School Board and served three terms.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Bonnie Gaston; two brothers: Erskine A. Gaston and James W. Gaston; nephew Dr. Erskine A. Gaston.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law: Madge Gresham Gaston of New Iberia, LA, Mildred Mcree Gaston of Longview, TX; two nieces: Bonnie Gaston Sheridan of New Iberia, LA, Janet Gaston Erwin of Long-view, TX; three nephews: James P.Gaston of Austin, TX, Thomas R. Gaston of Little Rock, AR, Dr. Lewis Gaston of Baton Rouge, LA; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Alton Gaston, Jock Sheridan, Jimmy Gaston, Grant Gaston, Fin Erwin, Peter Gaston, Alvin Green and Doil Herren. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr.

Clyde Birch Fulton, 67, of Houston, TX will be held at 4:30 PM Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA with Rev. George Bonner officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA. Mr. Fulton died May 9, 2002 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston, TX.

Mr. Fulton was a retired vice-president and controller of the Travelers Insurance Company. He was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and received his B.S. degree from Northwestern LA State University and his Masters from Florida State University in mathematics. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy with a rank of Lieutenant JG in 1958.

Mr. Fulton was a member of the Casualty Actuarial Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Sr. and Lillian Fulton; brother, Dan Fulton; and nephew, Jeffrey Fulton. Survivors include his sister, Mrs.

Pat Fulton Kelly and her husband Don of Natchitoches, LA; nieces and nephews, Melanie Kelly Bedgood, Keenan Kelly, and Tracy Fulton Kilgore; and great nieces and nephews, Hunter and Kaitlynn Bedgood, Brandon Kelly, and Jeremy and Alexander Cooper. Mr. Hardy died at Richardson Medical Center on Thursday, May 9, 2002 after a long illness. Mr. Hardy was born on December 5, 1925 In Leesville, LA. He has been a resident of Rayville for the past seventy years.

He retired from Ware Oil Company In Rayville and from the Richland Parish School System, where he served as a bus driver. He was also a cattleman and farmer. He was a member of the Boeuf River Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years, Loraine Hardy; his parents, Clark and Minnie Hardy; his brother, Bobby Hardy; and sisters, Bernice Gammill and Mildred Idom.
