Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville, LA Graveside services for Mr. Perry H. Post, Jr. age 89, of Delhi, will be at December 27, 2006 at Delhi Masonic Cemetery in Delhi, with Rev. Charles Best officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville.

Mr. Post was a member of Newton Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Nell Roberts Post. He was a retired automobile mechanic and passed away on December 25, 2006. ORETUS BOWMAN THAMES Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville, LA Oretus Bowman Thames died on Christmas Eve in the West Monroe Guest House. Her journey home to be with our Lord occurred on what would have been her 73rd Wedding Anniversary. Her husband Wilbur Cornelius Thames preceded her death in 1995 when he died on Christmas morning. Mrs.

Thames, who was better known as "Meme," lived most of her life in Mangham, Louisiana, where she faithfully served the New Light Baptist Church and was an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star. "Memo" was loved by all who knew her. She filled her life being a devoted wife and mother, a committed grandmother, an adored aunt, and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She paved the way for her family as she taught us to love one another and to love Christ through the way she lived and loved each of us. Oretus Thames was preceded in death by her parents James Willis Bowman and Minnie Leona Bowman, her husband Wilbur C.

Thames, and her brother Burford Bowman of Crockett, Texas. Those surviving Mrs. Thames are her children Rosalyn Thames Odom and her husband, E.K. "Bud" Odom of West Monroe, Wilbur C. "Bud" Thames, Jr.

Lucia Ann Lewis Tirmenstein, 75, of Monroe, will be at Wednesday, December 27, 2006, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Mrs. Tirmenstein was born January 28, 1931 in Monroe and passed away Monday, December 25, 2006.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe, owned Dew Music Company, and recently retired from the 18st Street Main Branch of Ouachita Parish Library where she served many patrons and made many friends. She was one of the original founding parents of River Oaks School, and founded the school's library. She also loved music, playing piano and organ. She lived for the past year in Fayetteville, AR where she had many friends in her retirement community. Mrs.

Tirmenstein is survived by her daughter, Libby Smith and husband Bill of Fayetteville, AR; son, Robbie Tirmenstein of Monroe; and two grandchildren, Will and Ashley Smith of Fayetteville, AR. Pallbearers will be John Peters, Gaines Hodge, Mark Mayo, Cobb Morgan, Raymond Callahan, and Robbie Tirmenstein. Honorary pallbearers will be Cole Smelser and Rusty Sullivan. Mrs. Bell was born on January 17, 1921 in Sikes, LA, she was 85. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006, from at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her parents; William T. and Levia Martin, three brothers; Ernest, Larry and Arnold Martin, and three sisters; Clemish Ewing, Beulah Ewing and Audye Jordan and one great-granddaughter, Cassey Price. Pallbearers will be Brad Fleming, Kevin McBride, Craig McBride, Lance Waldron and Brian Fleming, Greg Waldron and Scott Hall.

SARA VIRGINIA CRAIG Cremation Society of the SOUTH Marietta, GA Sara Virginia Craig, a lifelong public servant, died in Atlanta on December 25, 2008. She was 85 and died of cancer which she had battled for over two decades. Sara was born in Jackson, Mississippi to Winston Craig and Louise "Lou" Hodges Craig on January 13, 1921. She spent her depression era childhood largely in Monroe, Louisiana, growing up with an extended family. She attended elementary and high school in Monroe and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

She moved to Atlanta with her parents when she was sixteen. Sara graduated from The University of Alabama in 1941 at the age of 20 with a degree in political science. Sara began her career as a caseworker in the Fulton County Welfare Department. She was soon recruited to be a supervisor and inspector for the War Department. From there she moved to the War Food Administration before leaving federal service for a time to work for the Red Cross and later to run the Lockheed employee welfare program for over ten years.

As a volunteer on the Kennedy campaign in 1960, Sara met Charles Wettner, who, when elected to congress in 1962, hired Sara for his office in Washington. Sara remained a lifelong friend of Charles Weltner and his family. It was during her tenure in the Congressman's office that Sara met Wyche Fowler, who became a close friend, and later was US Senator and Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Following Congressman Weltner's two terms in office, Sara moved to the Office of Economic Opportunity at the Department of Commerce. When OEO was disbanded, Sara returned to Atlanta to work for the Department of Health, Education and Welfare regional office and was appointed HEW Southeastern Regional Administrator and named Chairperson of the Federal Regional Council by President Jimmy Carter.

At the beginning of the Reagan administration, Sara returned to her career as afederal service as a Deputy Assistant Regional Commissioner at the Social Security Administration where she would remain until her retirement in 1991 at age 70. Not yet ready to give up public service, Sara spent five years at the Center for Disease Control as a public information officer and policy analyst. Sara was a "cradle" Episcopalian and a member of the Cathedral of St. Philip from 1937 until her death. Sara served the Cathedral in many capacities including the Cathedral Chapter, chair of the Outreach Committee, chair of the Adult Christian Education Committee and a member of several Diocesan Committees.

Sara was an accomplished writer whose essays on political and social subjects were known and enjoyed by her close friends. Some of the phrases from the speeches she authored are still heard today. Sara was an amateur photographer, a great reader on politics, history, religion and art, and an occasional painter. She traveled widely, and although she claimed Italy as her favorite destination, Sara declared, "I never met a trip I wouldn't take." Sara is survived by a legion of dear friends and her cousins Tommy Sparks and his wife, Susan, of Monroe, LA; Elizabeth Sparks McQueen and her husband, Philip, and Sara Thompson McQueen of Baton Rouge, LA; Jennifer Carter Chesnut and Hannah Chesnut Mrs. Thames is also survived by her siblings who she loved dearly: Otis Bowman and his wife Francis of Rayville, William Bowman and his wife Virginia of Mangham, Charles Bowman and his wife Ruby of Delhi and sister, Edna Dodson of Choudrant, sister-in-law Vera Bowman of Crockett, TX.

She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews who also loved her dearly. Services for Mrs. Thames will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at at New Light Baptist Church in Mangham with the Rev. Roger Johnson and Rev. Stan Wyant officiating.

Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons and great-grandsons: Trey Thames, Bryan Odom, Jason Brown, Jason Chesnut, Jason David Brown, Mitchell Brown, Hudson Brown, Kyle Thames, Will Chesnut and Cade Thames. Honorary Pallbearers are her nephews. Mrs. Thames will be laid to rest at Gwin Cemetery in Mangham. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, LA.

Gibson was a member of Jackson Street, Bilbo and Roberts Church of Christ. She lived most of her life in Monroe and West Monroe. Mrs. Gibson was a loving mother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Clarence Gibson.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by 3 daughters, Linda Bob Fowler of Arkansas City, AR, Ola Mae Dick Navarre of Englewood, FL, and Mary Lou Pete Mirante of DeRidder, LA; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Grade Crawford, Thelma Moon, Rachel Hart, Willie Mae White, Jewell White Ema Roberts. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Mr. Williamson was born Nov. 7, 1926 in Ouachita Parish to Greely and Elma Williamson. He died December 26, 2006 at Cornerstone Hospital In West Monroe, LA after a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Turner, and brothers, Ovie Williamson, Olan Williamson and Leon Williamson. Edward Elbert served our country in the United States Army as a Sargent First Class and platoon leader. He served 2 years in Korea and fought on the frontlines in a foxhole for 7 months where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart medal. He also received 6 other medals including 4 battle stars. When he returned to the states he married Norma Jean Wharton of West Monroe.

He worked 42 years at Olinkraft as an operator in the craft area. He was a member of McGuire Methodist Church. In his retirement years he enjoyed his camp in Caldwell Parish. There he enjoyed gardening and raising cattle. Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Wharton Williamson; Dean Williamson and wife Rita of West Monroe; daughter Gloria Tergliafera and husband Tom, of King, NC; grandson, Christopher Tergliafera of Burbank, CA; granddaughter, Maria Tergliafera of Raleigh, NC; 3 sisters, Dorothy Street, Versie McDannell, Margaret Bonnett and 2 brothers, Eldridge Williamson and Nolan Williamson.

Pallbearers will be Tom Tergliafera, Ray Holton, Dennis Holton, Richard Crawford, Buddy Griggs and Mark Webb. Visitation will be Thursday morning until service time at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors at Cornerstone Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Memorials may be made to McGuire Methodist Church building fund.
